Announcing

WATER2050

Healing Water Institute is presently formulating an initiative called WATER2050.

Its purpose is to coordinate and track the return of water quality worldwide to 1950 standards, by 2050.

Somewhere this challenge and vital aim has to be stated.... let us return water quality by 2050 back to what it was in 1950!

As part of this project we will be introducing the concept of GLOBALTHIRST, which is the water problem equivalent of Global Warming, but one which most people do not realize the extreme consequences of. It is time Global Thirst became known worldwide as much as Global Warming is.

Healing Water Institute does not intend to do all the work involved...even if it were possible... but rather is focusing on the creation of a sophisticated website that will enable very large numbers of people and groups to create and update their own large or small 'water project' pages, and network with other 'waterfriends' and organizations.

Through the combination of GoogleEarth project tagging, interactive Wiki technology (see www.wikipedia.org) and Facebook-method networking, a 'real time' picture of water conditions worldwide will emerge.

Hence we have bought the domains Waterfriends.net and Water2050.net, the first for the public interaction, the second for water quality information collations.

WaterFriends.net: interactive self editing and volunteer moderated website to share water projects tagged into Google Earth so it is all available transparently to most people in the one site.

Water2050.net:  presentation of measurable water conditions in many key places around the world, in decade by decade snapshots starting from 1950 going to 2010. It will show what we can expect in these places if deterioration continues through to 2020, 2030, 2040 and 2050.

Good Works

A lot of information exists but is placed in thousands of unrelated different websites and unannounced community efforts.

Our wish is that WATER2050 will create a growing awareness of what has to be done to return water quality to 1950 standards and how we can do this, but above all to generate enthusiasm and determination to achieve such a goal.

If we carry on the way we are then there is no certainty water will even support life on this planet by 2050 !

Lets look at this shocking possibility.........

Can humanity have confidence that water will still support life on our planet by 2050?

With the projections for its condition worldwide by then, we definitely can not have confidence that water will support life! Certainly not adequately and in many large sections of the planet possibly not at all...

By 2050 if we continue the way we are now, water will be in the following condition according to UNESCO and BBC reports:

  GLOBAL THIRST Scenario:

• 75% of the world’s human population will have fresh water shortages, some of a very serious nature.. This will include Western developed countries. (Already in 2008, 1/3rd of humanity struggles daily for fresh water for drinking, cooking and washing)
  

• Of fresh water that is available for use, a high degree of pollution of all types is likely (organic, chemical and energetic)
  

• Oceans' ecological collapse worldwide (80% of all life in Oceans) due to increasing acidification, rising temperatures and pollution levels.

• 95+% of all fresh water sources in nature being captured for human use...and being degraded because of our present ill-informed way of treating it.

• Floods and droughts increasing.

• Salination of coastal regions from rising seas, with salt seeping into ground waters.
  

• Desalination of sea water for human use, will give us fresh water but likely with limited energetic life-supporting capacity.

• Collapse of artesian supplies from overuse and insufficient run back underground.

These projections may seem too extreme but they are based on generally available statements coming from government advisory scientists, university and UNESCO reports.

Diverse water quality standards and photographs will be collated as of 1950 from many key representative places around the world and become the minimum criteria to reach by 2050.

Stages will be outlined and shared to achieve these goals, in decade steps.
